Today we got some great news from the Supreme Court! In a 5-3 decision, the court reaffirmed the right to an abortion and struck down a law in Texas that would have forced almost all clinics to close. The Supreme Court has affirmed that Texas legislators went too far in their effort to shame, punish, and pressure women who decide to have abortions.

For years right-wing politicians have used these so-called “TRAP” laws (Targeted Restrictions on Abortion Providers) to force abortion clinics to close, under the false guise of protecting women’s health.

Thanks to today’s ruling, abortion clinics in Texas will be able to stay open and continue to serve their patients. That’s a win worth celebrating.
