In the last six years North Carolina lawmakers have repeatedly ignored the needs women, children, and families. They’ve rolled back reproductive rights and have created an environment where it’s nearly impossible for many North Carolina women to access abortion services.

We now have waiting periods; clinic closures; state-scripted medically inaccurate counseling; and invasive privacy-impinging ultrasound laws. Right now it’s more difficult for a woman to have an abortion in North Carolina than at any time since it was legalized in 1973.

What’s next? If state lawmakers have anything to say about it, things are only going to get worse.

In nearby South Carolina and states across the country, hateful laws are being passed that deny women the ability to have abortions. North Carolina is the battleground for the next war against providers and those who need them.
