Gov. McCrory just can’t get his coal ash story straight.

He claimed during the debate that his secret dinner with Duke Energy was about a bill he was going to veto. Well it turns out the bill in question wasn’t passed until a year AFTER the meeting.

Now a newly released deposition shows that McCrory’s office was the one who inserted controversial language telling well owners their water was safe, despite strong objections from state scientists. McCrory has repeatedly said and that neither he nor his staff played much of a role in developing the advisories.

It's time for the Governor to stop protecting his former employer Duke Energy and start answering questions for residents living near toxic coal ash pits.
