Tell the State Board of Elections to Protect Early Voting:

The NC Republican Party has pressured many county officials to eliminate early voting sites on campuses and Sunday afternoon voting used in the March 2016 primary. I urge the State Board of Elections to repudiate this move to suppress voting and adopt strong early voting plans for the November election.

    Background

Over the last few weeks the NC Republican Party has been engaged in a coordinated campaign to slash early voting across the state. Unfortunately it’s working.

From Wilmington to Boone and everywhere in between, we’ve seen local partisan election officials cut Sunday voting, eliminate polling sites popular with young people and minorities, and reduce the overall hours from what they offered in 2012.

More than half of all voters in 2008 and 2012 used early voting. To cut back now would create havoc and make it harder for folks to cast their ballot.

It’s now up to the State Board of Elections to throw out these awful proposals and force counties to adopt strong early voting plans.  Can you send them a message and urge them to protect early voting in NC?
